Spotlight on Crazy Lace Agate
When you just can’t decide between tacos and pizza for dinner, reach for the Crazy Lace Agate. Said to help with decision making by balancing the physical, emotional and mental, Crazy Lace Agate makes it easier to come to a decision (in that case, tacos it is).
Crazy Lace Agate is a balancing and protecting stone. Better than throwing up protective mental barriers that can only cause future trauma, Crazy Lace Agate brings laughter and absorbs emotional pain, and is also said to ward off the “evil eye”.
The History of Crazy Lace Agate
Also known as Mexican Agate, Crazy Lace Agate is a relatively new mineral discovery.
This stone appeared first in 1895. But it is only in the 1950s that it was rediscovered by American geologists.
But, just because it’s new to us, doesn’t mean it’s new to the world.
Found exclusively within the area known as Chihuahua, in Northern Mexico, Crazy Lace Agate is believed to have been created in the cretaceous period, roughly 65-90 million years ago, it’s no wonder the Crazy Lace Agate holds so much wisdom.
Recognising Crazy Lace Agate
Lace agate is a variety that exhibits a lace-like pattern with forms such as eyes, swirls, bands or zigzags. Crazy Lace Agate is a banded chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz) that's infused with iron and aluminium and is often brightly coloured and complexly patterned, demonstrating randomised distribution of contour lines and circular droplets, scattered throughout the rock.
The Crazy Lace Agate stone is typically coloured red and white but is also seen to exhibit yellow ochre, gold and grey combinations as well. Agate is sometimes called the earth rainbow because, in its various forms, the concentric bands in nature form nearly every colour the earth can produce. Perfect for placing in your window to inspire hope during uncertain times.
What is Crazy Lace Agate used for?
Known as “the stabiliser”, Agate is your first port of call for support when you need stability and grounding in your life. Metaphysically, Agate has a lower intensity and vibrates to a slower frequency than other stones, but along with its supportive energy, the Agate stone has been long admired for its incredible beauty.
Crazy Lace Agate, with its twisting and turning bands is sometimes called the Laughter Stone, or "Happy Lace." It conjures up images of sunset fiestas in Tulum, tequila slammers and dancing til dawn and brings joy to those who wear it. A dish of Crazy Lace Agate in the room brings life to any party, and in the workplace, it unites people usually restricted to their own areas without direct communication.
Crazy Lace Agate is elegant and dynamic. It promotes mental agility, liveliness and variety, and encourages flexibility in thinking and action. Associated with the web of fate, Crazy Lace Agate is useful when ghost hunting (maybe try placing one next to your potter’s wheel and summon a bit of Patrick Swayze action next time you feel so inclined)!
Physically, Crazy Lace Agate is beneficial for the endocrine system and the heart and works against skin disorders such as acne or eczema. It is also said to be excellent for increasing stamina and energy. Better for the soul than mainlining Red Bull at any rate.
